Before the Green was filled with #Dartmouth19s, their families, friends, and the Dartmouth community, Ellen Smalley ’19 took to the stage to perform as a stand-in for Yo-Yo Ma during sound check.
On Sunday, June 9, the Dartmouth community gathered on the Green to celebrate the Class of 2019.
Under sunny skies, Ma gave a musical address to a commencement audience topping 11,000.
“Let us remember: Every struggle for reform, innovation, or justice starts with a voice in the wilderness,” Ma told the Class of 2019.
“Engagement with the arts is integral to the experience of every Dartmouth student,” Hanlon told the Class of 2019.
Liu, one of six valedictorians in the Class of 2019, delivered the valedictory to the College at the 2019 commencement ceremony.
Andrew Liu ’19 will deliver the valedictory address for the Class of 2019.
More than 1,900 degrees will be conferred at commencement on Sunday.
The designer of the September 11 Memorial spoke at the Hop’s arts awards ceremony.
