Dartmouth is experiencing an increase in COVID-19 transmission among students, COVID-19 task force co-chairs Lisa Adams and Josh Keniston announced in an email sent to the community this afternoon.

There are at least 22 active cases, and the number may grow overnight, the message said.

The possible sources of the outbreak are under investigation, and the students who tested positive are in isolation on campus, “resting comfortably, and receiving medical attention,” Adams and Keniston said. Individuals who have been identified as contacts are in quarantine.

For health and safety reasons, all dining options will shift to “grab-and-go” beginning with Wednesday dinner and continuing at least through Sunday, Feb. 28.

Students may still participate in outdoor activities such as skating, skiing, and hiking, but Keniston and Adams urged the entire community to keep up safety precautions.

“We want to stress that it is more important than ever that everyone continues to wear appropriate face coverings and maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet,” their message said.

Members of the community who feel unwell or experience symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should contact the Dartmouth College Health Service, Axiom Medical, or their primary care provider.

“We appreciate your flexibility as we continue to look out for one another and maintain the health and well-being of our community,” Adams and Keniston said.
