Dartmouth Pre-Union Week kicks off on Sunday, June 14, by celebrating the Class of 2020 and follows with a lineup of engaging and thoughtful daily programs, live-streamed events, and a selection of pre-recorded content to explore.  

There will also be programming on Monday and Thursday evenings for the Dartmouth alumni community to have open and honest discussions about race, racism, and what is happening in our world today. Daily Main Stage Live-Streamed Events Designed to Inspire

• Sunday: Celebrating the Moment: 2020: Celebrate the Class of 2020 with a virtual degree conferring ceremony, including addresses by President Philip J. Hanlon ’77 and Salmon Kahn, founder of Khan Academy.

• Monday: Fake News and Misinformation in the Age of COVID, with Professor of Government Brendan Nyhan.

• Tuesday: Let’s Cook! with Priya Krishna ’13, a contributor to The New York Times and The New Yorker and the author of the cookbook Indian-ish. On Tuesday evening, you won’t want to miss Meet the Author with bestselling author Peter Heller ’82 as he discusses his most recent novel, The River.

• Wednesday: Start the day with COVID and Athletics with Coach Buddy Teevens ’79 and Kristene Kelly, senior associate athletics director for varsity sports, and then tune in to Community Conversations with Provost Joseph Helble.

• Thursday: Early Daughters of Dartmouth film discussion featuring Lisbeth Tarlow, Alice Reno Malone, and Bill Aydellot ’72, who will share stories and answer questions about the women who helped set the stage for Dartmouth’s coeducation.

• Friday: Draw Baker Tower with acclaimed Argentine comic artist Ricardo Liniers Siri. Then join the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble for a broadcast concert led by award-winning composer Oliver Caplan ’04.

• Saturday: Learn what inspires our leaders in Our Leadership Moment and How Dartmouth Prepared Us For It with President Hanlon and six trustees.

Complementing these live-streamed events are an array of more to explore pre-recorded content, from Dr. Seuss story time and “Designing your Life” workshops to a look at the Impressionists through the eyes of George Shackleford ’77 and John Stomberg, the Virginia Rice Kelsey 1961s Director of the Hood Museum of Art, and hearing from alumni who were unable to fulfill their Olympic dreams in the summer of 1980 in an Olympics “almost” podcast.
