The College’s 250th anniversary celebrations and the new Campus Climate and Culture Initiative (C3I) will be the topics of Executive Vice President Rick Mills’ Jan. 16 town hall meeting.

Mills will host 250th celebration co-chairs Cheryl Bascomb ’82, vice president for alumni relations, and Donald Pease, the Ted and Helen Geisel Third Century Professor in the Humanities, and Kristi Clemens, Title IX Coordinator and Clery Act Compliance Officer, for discussions and question-and-answer sessions with the audience.

The event, part of Mills’ regular town hall meetings for the Dartmouth community, starts at noon on Jan. 16, in Spaulding Auditorium at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The event is open to the public.

Mills has invited Clemens to talk about C3I and new mandatory online sexual violence prevention training for all faculty, staff, post-doctoral scholars, and graduate and professional students.

Announced Jan. 3 by President Philip J. Hanlon ’77, C3I is made up of new programs as well as a number of initiatives that have been in the works for some time. The project is organized into five categories—campus climate, academic and professional development, recruitment, resources, and mandatory reporting. President Hanlon noted that C3I is the third pillar, along with Moving Dartmouth Forward and Inclusive Excellence, of a set of initiatives established to create a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

For the second half of the hour-long town hall, Bascomb and Pease will discuss the slate of celebrations, academic and arts programming, and service opportunities that will be offered throughout 2019 under the sestercentennial theme “Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future.” 

Mills initiated the town hall series in October 2014 with the goal of fostering regular, open exchanges with members of the Dartmouth community.
