Dartmouth Now takes note when faculty members weigh in on issues of the day. Here is today’s “Quoted”:

“Majorana disappeared, and a lot of theories, a lot of speculations have been made. What can I say? The answer hasn’t been found,“ says Professor of Physics and Astronomy Lorenza Viola in an NHPR story about the search for the subatomic particle known as the Majorana particle. The particle’s existence was predicted 75 years ago by the Italian physicist Ettore Majorana, who, as NHPR notes, boarded a boat in 1938 and vanished somewhere between Palermo and Naples.
