The first in her family to attend college, Alex Bernadotte ’92 faced enormous struggles as a student at Dartmouth and nearly dropped out, The Huffington Post writes. But she found a way to overcome the challenges, and after graduation went on to earn a master’s degree at Stanford.

She also founded Beyond 12, an organization dedicated to increasing “the number of low-income, first-generation and historically underrepresented students who graduate from our nation’s colleges and universities,” Bernadotte tells The Huffington Post.
