Former Big Green cross-country and track and field standout Alexi Pappas ’12 is running faster than ever, all while showing off her creative side, reports ESPN.

Instead of wearing a traditional track and field singlet during competitions, Pappas sports homemade versions of the uniform, like one with polka dots and stripes and another with the Spider-Man emblem. “A race will always hurt whether it’s slow or fast or good or bad, so if I can, I like to think about little things that make me smile,” Pappas tells ESPN.

The article talks about Pappas’ success as a runner, and also focuses on her other passion—performing and filmmaking. ”I’m a runner and a performer-writer-filmmaker. I would like to be taken seriously as both.”

Tall as the Baobab Tree, a film Pappas co-wrote with Jeremy Teicher ’10, debuted at several film festivals this year, including the Doha Tribeca Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival, ESPN notes.

This fall, according to ESPN, Pappas will begin running professionally as a member of the Oregon Track Club.
