Kiva Sam ’12, one of Teach For America’s (TFA) newest corp members, is part of an incoming group that is “the largest and among the most diverse in our history,” writes Wendy Kopp, founder and chief executive officer of TFA, in an opinion piece published by the Huffington Post.

Kopp, who gave Dartmouth’s 2012 Commencement address, explained that Sam, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, will “return to teach in her native Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota this fall.”

Sam is one of 37 members of the Class of 2012 who have been accepted for two-year TFA teaching positions in poor and under-resourced school districts across the nation.
