What’s the greatest issue in health care today?

In an article for The Wall Street Journal, M. Eric Johnson says, “Many would say that controlling costs is the toughest challenge facing the U.S. health-care industry. But safeguarding patient information in a digital world isn’t proving to be much easier.”

Johnson is the Benjamin Ames Kimball Professor of the Science of Administration and director of the Glassmeyer/McNamee Center for Digital Strategies at the Tuck School of Business. He suggests four proactive steps the industry should take to tackle security for sensitive health data: take inventory, consider access, make the technology easy to use, and educate doctors.
