Carol Dunne, senior lecturer of theater, was recently awarded “Best Director of a Musical” at the New Hampshire Theater Awards for her work on The Pirates of Penzance at the New London Barn Playhouse, New Hampshire’s oldest continuously operating summer stock theater, where she serves as artistic director. Her production of The Pirates of Penzance won a total of nine awards—including “Best Musical”—the most won by a single professional theater at the 9th annual awards event.

“I was thrilled that the work of the New London Barn Playhouse, in its new incarnation as a not-for-profit theater company, has been so publicly recognized,” said Dunne. “The Barn has been thriving during this economic downturn, a true sign of the incredible resources and support in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire. The Barn is dedicated to providing opportunities to emerging artists, many from Dartmouth, each year. These recent awards make it that much easier to attract audiences and talent.  We’re thrilled!”
