Dartmouth kicked off the “Carnival of the Century,” the 100th anniversary of Winter Carnival, on Thursday February 10, 2011, with opening ceremonies and a fireworks display. Activities throughout the weekend included broomball, snowshoe races, a community party on Occom Pond, human dog sled races, a Winter Carnival Ball, and the Polar Bear Swim.
