What will happen on Election Night and what will it mean for the electorate is the topic of a conference scheduled for Friday.
“Midterm Madness 2010: What Will Happen in the November Elections and Why?” is taking place from 3-5 p.m. in the 1930 room of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences. The panelists are: Robert Erikson, professor of political science, Columbia University, author of The Puzzle of Midterm Loss; Charles Franklin, professor of political science, University of Wisconsin-Madison, co-founder of Pollster.com; Joseph Bafumi, assistant professor of government at Dartmouth; Harry Enten ’11; and Theodore Schroeder ’11. The discussion will be moderated by Dean Lacy, professor of government at Dartmouth.
“Will the Republicans win a majority in the House or Senate?” asks Lacy. “Are current polls accurate? Are the elections a referendum on the Obama administration? And what role will the Tea Party really play in the outcomes? Those are just some of the questions this group of political analysts will tackle. I’m hoping for a really exciting, really dynamic exchange of ideas and opinions on Friday.”
The event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the Program in Politics and Law in Dartmouth’s government department and the Rockefeller Center.
