The Dartmouth Outing Club’s (DOC) First-Year Trips Program took silver in the 2009 Excellence Awards program conducted by NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. The First-Year Trips were honored in NASPA’s “Athletics, Recreation, Physical Fitness, Non-Varsity Sports and Related” category.

Molly Bode ’09, trips assistant director for 2009 and now a Dartmouth presidential fellow in global studies and higher education, submitted the entry to NASPA. “Trips is celebrating its 75th year at the same time that the DOC is celebrating its centennial,” notes Bode. “That’s an incredible history right there; a history of inclusivity and of a strong Dartmouth community that extends beyond the classroom and transcends generations.”
NASPA recognizes the contributions of student affairs administrators, faculty, graduate and undergraduate students who are transforming higher education. Qualifications for the Excellence Awards include: positive impact on student learning, transitions, and/or success; relevance to the College’s institutional mission; and demonstration of success in addressing student needs.
