Lost In the Desert Sky will include all new music, and will be performed by Kahlor's ensemble, in remembrance of Shajarian. The film also introduces vocalist Hadi Hosseini, a former student of Shajarian's.

Across his career, Kalhor has composed music for Sajarian, and this film features all new pieces by him and tar player Ali Ashgar Arabshahi. The concert was filmed in the exquisite Mahinistan Raheb Hotel, a 200-year-old architecturally sublime historic locale in Kashan, an ancient desert city and an important stop on the Silk Road full of history.
