Join Dartmouth undergraduates Emily Martinez '21, Michelle Wang '21, Santiago Zamora-Castillo '21, and Andres Rosales '20 TH '21 to learn about their efforts in the NREL 2021 Marine Energy Collegiate Competition (MECC), an international collaboration designing and analyzing an Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plant. OTEC is a renewable and climate resilient technology that generates electricity using the naturally occurring thermal gradient of the ocean. Experts estimate the ocean through OTEC has the potential to generate billions of watts of electric power. Come to learn about OTEC, the team's project, and the MECC. The team will discuss their innovative technical design of a 50 W offshore OTEC installation, business model, and subsequent socio-economic analyses.

The Irving Institute for Energy and Society awarded each of the team members mini-grant funding to support this effort.
