The government has bought corporate debt. The equity of bankrupt companies has soared. And Bitcoin is at all-time highs. How should we think about risk in our personal and professional lives and what is the dividing line between keen risk management of uncertain situations and gambling and speculation? Are there lessons that we can take away from the behavior of actors in historically risky professions like big wave surfers, poker players, and brothel workers?

Join the Tuck Adam Smith Society Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 12-1pm for a conversation with Allison Schrager, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and author of An Economist Walks into a Brothel, about the nature of gambling, speculation and risk, both in the financial system and in broader life.
