Katharine von Herrmann joined Flagship Pioneering as an associate after completing the firm’s Fellowship Program, and now works as part of a team of entrepreneurial scientists to explore new areas of biology and develop the science, intellectual property, and business strategy that form the foundation of Flagship’s life science ventures. Before joining Flagship, Katharine conducted her thesis work in the Havrda Laboratory at Dartmouth, where she investigated the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in Parkinson’s disease.

Flagship Pioneering is a venture origination firm, based in Cambridge, MA, dedicated to life science innovation. We perform our own R&D in what we call Flagship Labs, and have created and built more than 100+ companies over the past 18 years. Flagship is currently recruiting for the 2021 Fellows Program - 12-week paid summer fellowship at Flagship’s offices in Cambridge, although due to the pandemic we transitioned into a remote experience last year with great success. The fellowship is designed as an opportunity to get exposure to our unique approach to basic science, innovation, and venture creation and to learn how to apply this approach first-hand. We are looking for amazing PhDs and postdocs who might be interested (and I’d personally love to have many Dartmouth folks join us!)
