Talk Summary

Being able to control one's environment through thoughts is no longer a fictional story with the emergence of the brain-computer interface (BCI). BCI research focuses on reading and analyzing brain signals, translating them into commands, and feeding them back to the brain to carry out the desired action. This would pave the way to help people with physical challenges in different ways, like assisting in communication such as interpreting one's thoughts to message and control physical devices like a wheelchair. In the BCI-AI lab at Keene State College, we are working on localizing the pain signal by analyzing brain waves. In this talk, I will cover the basics of machine learning, an introduction to BCI research, applications of machine learning in BCI research, and the latest trends in BCI research.
