Kit (Golding) returns to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time since he was six years old when his family fled in the aftermath of the Vietnam-American war. He searches for a place to scatter his parents' ashes, but beyond wanting to find "somewhere momentous" he can't quite articulate what he's looking for. During his stay, he meets his estranged second cousin Lee, young Vietnamese student Linh, and Lewis (Parker Sawyers, Southside With You), an American clothing designer whose online dating profile piques his interest. Will it be a casual fling or something more?

Struggling to make sense of himself in a home he's no longer familiar with, Kit embarks on a personal journey across the country that opens up the possibility for friendship, love and happiness.  Monsoon dives into subjects such as living between cultures, feeling lost in translation and the complex and sometimes conflicting intersection of identities that emerges when you're part of more than one minority. With gorgeous cinematography, beautifully subtle performances and a universal story of longing and belonging, this minimalist romance is our Valentine's Day pick for you.
