Because of fundamental changes in the economy and technological change which has increased the ease of data collection and processing, demand for statistics and analytics training is arguably at an all-time high. Such courses can be challenging courses to teach because of tremendous span of information and the varied backgrounds of students. This talk will describe one course, ENGM 182 Data Analytics, which has been taught at Dartmouth since 2016. The course has seen strong demand from Thayer engineering, Tuck business, and some QBS students at Dartmouth. A continual challenge is how to strike the balance between delivering content with easily measured individual outcomes versus content that is more team-based with project deliverables. The course has long utilized a "flipped" structure where lectures are kept short and most sessions have in-class exercises designed to deliver specific learning outcomes. The course objectives and philosophy will be discussed as well as the experience with moving the course online in spring 2020.

This workshop will be offered online via Zoom. Please register to receive the Zoom link (by 10:00am EST, July 23, 2020).
