Immigration is one of the most contested issues of our time. How are the rights of the citizens of a country to be balanced against the rights of those wishing, for whatever reason, to move to that country? What are the economic factors involved, and how should they be weighed in the formation of public policy? And how far if at all is immigration legitimately viewed as a cultural phenomenon? Is it instead a matter of fundamental individual rights? Bryan Caplan (Economics, George Mason University, and author, Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration) and Mark Krikorian (Center for Immigration Studies and author, The New Case Against Immigration) will address issues such as these in a debate sponsored by the Political Economy Project. Wednesday, April 29, 2020, 4:30 pm, room TBD. the event will be free and open to the public.
