Great Issues Scholars Program, Celebrating 10 Years
Dartmouth 250th event: Alumni Panel Discussion
Great Issues Scholars 10th Anniversary
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2019
Former Dartmouth President John Sloan Dickey is often remembered for his efforts to globalize the Dartmouth student experience—in great part due to his inclusion of the “Great Issues” course—a required course for all graduating seniors in which the many “great issues” of the world were explored. In 2009, the Dickey Center launched an initiative aimed at reviving the spirit of the Great Issues course—offered in the form of a year-long, co-curricular program for first year students. The program is now celebrating 10 years and has engaged just under 800 Great Issues Scholars in nearly 300 globally-focused events!
The Homecoming panel is part of Dartmouth’s 250th celebration and will showcase alumni from across the years who will speak to the ways their experiences at Dartmouth and how “great issues” and global affairs studies impacted their lives and paths through and beyond Dartmouth.
Following the panel discussion, we invite you to join us for a robust reception (heavy appetizers, open bar) and a chance to meet and engage with current and former Great Issues Scholars.
