Community Energy in an Ever Changing Landscape

Recent political, legislative, and regulatory changes have enabled communities like Hanover to take increased ownership over energy choice. Come hear from the Town Manager, and co-chairs of Sustainable Hanover, how they are tackling challenges and opportunities related to net metering, municipal aggregation, carbon accounting, recent legislation, and the complexities of developing large scale solar projects locally.

In May 2017, Hanover was the first NH municipality to endorse the Sierra Club’s Ready for 100 goals, and the first in the country to do so by popular vote! Through its municipal staff and all-volunteer Sustainable Hanover Committee, a vision for a resilient and thriving community powered by affordable and renewable energy was established. An EPA Green Power community since 2014, Hanover has a history of supporting consumer choice, purchasing green-e certified power via organized buying cooperatives, and purchasing municipal electricity on wholesale markets.
