Two thousand years ago, the ancient Greco-Roman cities of Philippi and Corinth flourished in Greece. They were major centers of culture, commerce, pagan religion and were visited by Apostle Paul. Archaeological investigations are revealing important information about life in those times, the extent to which women functioned as leaders and how pagan cults existed alongside Paul and his colleagues. This special lecture by a Harvard-trained religion scholar, Dr. Valerie Abrahamsen will explore the impact of these archaeological initiatives, illustrated with on-site photos and slides.
