The mysterious but “practically perfect” Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) returns to Depression-era London to visit Jane (Emily Mortimer) and her brother Michael (Ben Whishaw), now a father of three, and she helps them rediscover the joy they knew as children. As in the original, this imaginative musical features an all-star cast of eccentric characters (Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Dick Van Dyke), including Lin-Manuel Miranda in his screen debut as the optimistic street-lamplighter Jack.
