This lecture will discuss a practical One Health approach to two areas, Preventive Medicine and Disaster Management. A One Health approach to Preventive Medicine is an important foundation for capacity building in the mitigation and prevention phases of disaster management while One Health approach to all phases of disaster management increases overall community resiliency. Specific examples of how One Health concepts can be incorporated into clinical practice will be discussed.
Bio:
Dr. Jones teaches at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Masters of One Health Disaster Management course.  She consults in the areas of infection prevention and control, biosecurity, biological risk management, outbreak investigation, antibiotic resistance trend analysis, and disaster management for clinics, hospitals, farms, and equine events and shows. Dr. Jones also serves as a Public Health Officer in the Air National Guard and on one of three Air National Guard Homeland Response Force (HRF) Health Risk Assessment Teams. The Health Risk Assessment Team’s primary mission is to conduct and support CRE and All-Hazard medical response planning and operations and provide operational and technical advisory support in the flight medicine, bioenvironmental and public health arenas in disasters.
