Nick Flynn has worked as a ship's captain, an electrician, and as a case worker with homeless adults. His most recent book is My Feelings (Graywolf, 2015), a collection of poems. Other titles include his memoirs, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City (Norton, 2005), The Ticking is the Bomb (Norton, 2010), and The Reenactments (Norton, 2013), his poetry collections The Captain Asks for a Show of Hands (Graywolf, 2011), Blind Huber (Graywolf, 2002), and Some Ether (Macmillan, 2000), and one play, Alice Invents a Little Game and Alice Always Wins (Farrar, Strauss & Giroux, 2008). He has received fellowships and awards from, among other organizations, The Guggenheim Foundation, PEN, and The Library of Congress. Some of the venues his poems, essays and nonfiction have appeared in include The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and NPR's This American Life. He is currently a professor on the creative writing faculty at the University of Houston, where he is in residence each spring. His work has been translated into fifteen languages. His film credits include artistic collaborator and "field poet" on the film Darwin's Nightmare (nominated for an Academy Award for best feature documentary in 20060, as well as executive producer and artistic collaborator on Being Flynn, the film version of his memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City (2012, Focus Features).

The reading will begin at 4:30pm in the Sanborn Library, Tuesday, October, 23rd, 2018. The library is on the first floor of the Sanborn House, 19 N. Main Street, Hanover, New Hampshire.
