Film: "Incredibles 2"
Everyone’s favorite superhero family is back for Pixar’s latest, a subversive and inventive work of animated genius.
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back! This time Helen (Holly Hunter) aka Elastigirl is in the spotlight, working with two media moguls to change the negative public opinion of supers. This leaves Bob (Craig T. Nelson) at home with the kids to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers.
Right off the bat, Helen finds herself chasing a new villain in town, Screenslaver, who is hacking into screens to hypnotize people all over the city. (This meta-layer and the film’s commentary on gender roles elevate Pixar’s work to the “must-see” level, for kids and adults alike).
Screenslaver presents a perfect chance for Helen to strut (or rather, stretch) her stuff … but she’s not going to be able to unmask this evildoer alone. The family and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
