Commentary: Fiber Art by Shari Boraz

The Upper Valley Jewish Community and Dartmouth College Hillel are pleased to host Commentary: Fiber Art by Shari Boraz May 18 to July 8, 2018 at The Roth Center for Jewish Life in Hanover, NH.

In this exhibit, Boraz comments on topics such as feminism (Physique Mystique), the support of nature (Purple Power, Spring Dance, and Cloudburst), and the mystical beauty of the Upper Valley (New England Vignettes, Meteor in the Deep Forest, April Sky, and Spring Dance).  Her media is hand-embroidery, often incorporating fabric that she designs and prints. The artist describes her art as “post-symbolism”, citing influences from Jungian symbols, and that of the Symbolism movement of art of the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Boraz has had her art exhibited in juried and invitational exhibitions across the country and abroad, including a current show at the Library Arts Center in Newport, NH through June 14.  She is a member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, Textile Society of America, the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, and the AVA Gallery and Art Center.

An opening reception will be on Friday, May 18th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at The Roth Center for Jewish Life at 5 Occum Ridge in Hanover, NH.  The exhibit is on view in The Roth Center lobby, which is open every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  Her website is www.SewBoraz.com.
