From the Hungarian mountains (Grand Budapest Hotel) to a New England summer camp (Moonrise Kingdom) to an Indian train trip (Darjeeling Limited), the cinematic journeys of Wes Anderson never disappoint. Here the writer/director returns to stop-motion animation with a wily canine adventure story in near-future Japan. When all dogs are banished to a vast garbage dump called Trash Island, 12-year-old Atari sets off alone in search of his bodyguard dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly found mongrel friends, Atari begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture. The usual Anderson collaborators lend their voices to the fun: Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Greta Gerwig, Harvey Keitel, Jeff Goldblum, F. Murray Abraham, Fisher Stevens, Liev Schreiber, Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton.
