This summer on the Dartmouth College campus, the Institute for Security, Technology, & Society (ISTS) is offering a summer program for high school students interested in cybersecurity and privacy. Funded by the NSF/NSA joint GenCyber program and Dartmouth College, this introductory program will explore current interdisciplinary research in cybersecurity and privacy.

The INTRODUCTORY program (July 9th through July 13th, 9am – 3pm) will focus on cryptography, digital forensics, privacy, and security awareness. Lessons will integrate lectures with interactive activities, augmented with field trips and guest speakers.

There is no charge – this community outreach program is generously funded by Dartmouth College and the GenCyber program, a partnership between the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation to help young people learn about cybersecurity and how skills in that area can pay off for them in the future: http://www.gen-cyber.com/

Adam Goldstein, professor of cybersecurity at Champlain College and ten-year veteran of Dartmouth’s Information Technology Consulting Group, will lead this year’s programs. Members of the College’s computing services staff will provide a “behind the scenes” look at Dartmouth’s approach to cybersecurity. In keeping with the outreach mission of ISTS, participants are requested to complete an outreach project of their own design to spread the word about cybersecurity within their schools and local communities.

The program is non-residential. Per GenCyber regulations, program participants must be United States residents and be enrolled in a United States high school or be home-schooled.
