Diane Kruger is riveting as a woman seeking justice after the murder her Kurdish husband and son in this Golden Globe winner for Best Foreign Language Film, based on real events in Germany.
Friends and family try to give Katja (Kruger) the support she needs, but the prejudice embedded in the investigation—and the police’s unfounded assumptions that her husband was involved in crime or Islamist extremism—only add to her unimaginable grief. Just when all hope of resolution seems lost, a young neo-Nazi couple is charged. But the ensuing trial pushes Katja to the edge. There is simply no alternative for her: she wants justice.
