Magic. Mystery. Marmalade.

Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw), now happily settled with the Brown family (Sally Hawkins, Hugh Bonneville), picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, a beautiful pop-up book of London. But when the rare book is stolen and Paddington is framed for the crime, the wee bear must choose whether to wait patiently for the Browns to find the real culprit—or break out of jail with the prison cook (Brendan Gleeson) and the rest of the gang.

A topnotch British cast fills out the jolly, somewhat oddball community in which Paddington lives (Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi). And what of that new neighbor, the once-great West End star and sartorial wonder Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant)? What’s he up to? Is he going to make his comeback? With a vibrant palette and boundless imagination, this heartwarming adventure is visually captivating—and with its combination of British wit and slapstick genius, is bound to draw out deep belly laughs from the whole family. D: Paul King, D: Paul King, UK, 2018, Runtime: 1h44m
