Imelda Staunton (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) returns to the National to star in Stephen Sondheim’s (Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd) classic musical. New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the once-spectacular, but now crumbling Weismann Theatre, because tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, ghosts from the past and the legendary Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs…and lie about themselves. 3h30m
