Dar He: The Lynching of Emmett Till

written and performed by Mike Wiley
directed by Lisa Rothe

North Carolina-based writer, actor, director and teaching artist Wiley inhabits the real-life characters of all races surrounding the case of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black Chicago youth lynched in 1955 in the Mississippi Delta after supposedly coming on to a white woman. This riveting play chronicles the murder, trial and unbelievable confession of the men accused of Till’s lynching. Rothe has developed and directed over 100 new plays, among them Hold These Truths by Jeanne Sakata, developed at Dartmouth with NYTW and being produced around the country.
