An Unlikely Bunch of Characters
by Kathryn Grody, Bulelani Mabutyana and Xolisa Kapakanti
In a fracturing world, is it possible for a white American elder actor/writer, to connect in an authentic way with two young South African theater makers? That’s the question this play examines as it looks at the process of collaboration in making theater, friendships and family, inclusive of all the obstacles and challenges that come with crossing class, color, culture and country. Grody, Mabutyana and Kapakanti are, respectively, a veteran American actor/writer and two young theater-makers from Cape Town, South Africa.
