The Philosophy Department will bring to campus scholars who work on the meta-normative program called “constitutivism”, which is the idea that norms governing certain personal states can be explained by what is constitutive of those states. The most familiar claims of this form are the neo-Kantian thesis that morality expresses constitutive requirements of agency and that belief constitutively aims at the truth. Pre-registration required; contact Professor Kenneth Walden (Kenneth.Walden@dartmouth.edu).
