Title:  "Plasmonic Nanostructures for Sensing and Light Manipulation at the Nanoscale"

Abstract:  Plasmonic and photonic nanostructures represent unique tools for the manipulation of light at the nanoscale, with sensing and tailoring of localized light sources being among the most interesting applications and active fields of research. In this context we shall discuss both from the experimental and theoretical point of view how a large variety of plasmonic nanostructures such as nanotriangle and nanohole arrays may be employed as sensing and light source tailoring platforms. Finally we shall consider a new generation of magneto-plasmonic nanostructures to investigate how the simultaneous exploitation of optical and magnetic properties of nanomaterials leads to sensing platforms with enhanced performances with respect to the traditional ones.
