THE HUMANITIES SUMMIT: Prospects
Nancy Fraser, The New School Achille Mbembe, University of the Witwatersrand; Duke University
Recent reports on the Humanities (issued by Harvard College and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences) set the terms for a discussion of the future of the humanities within a national framework and one that to some has appeared rather defensive. With this Summit, we would like to engage in a discussion about the larger, global landscape for the Humanities, both as a field both of study and research. To that end, we have invited several prominent speakers, whose work has and continues to transform what the Humanities means.
