Meredith A. MacMartin, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.  She is a palliative care physician and hospitalist at DHMC.  After graduating from The College of William and Mary and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine she returned to her native NH for internal medicine residency training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.  She stayed on as a chief resident and then completed fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at DHMC before joining the faculty in 2012.  Areas of particular interest include collaborative care models at the intersection of hospital medicine and palliative care and the impact of palliative care and decision support interventions earlier in the course of complex medical illnesses.  In addition, she has a growing interest in the use of social media for medical professionals and patients and is a Twitter evangelist (@GraniteDoc) and sometime host of #HPMTweetchat, a weekly Twitter-based palliative care discussion.

Tim Lahey, MD MMSc, is Associate Professor of Medicine and of Microbiology & Immunology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.  A practicing HIV physician and HIV/TB researcher, Dr. Lahey is chair elect of the DHMC Bioethics Committee and head of the DHMC Inpatient Advanced Directives Initiative.  An award-winning medical educator, Dr. Lahey is project leader for the Geisel curriculum redesign and co-chair of the Ethics & Humanities Working group.  He is on the board of trustees of SALAMA: Tanzania (which serves a primary school for orphans in Tanzania) and outgoing chair of the community advisory board for the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.

Meredith A. MacMartin, MD and Timothy Lahey, MD have stated that they have no financial interests or arrangements in association with this presentation.
