Objectives – Participants will be able to:
- Review the principles of heritable cancer risk
- Discuss the clinical features that suggest an underlying inherited cancer syndrome
- Consider the future opportunities and challenges in genetic testing
Bradley A. Arrick, MD, PhD
Dr. Arrick was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He graduated summa cum laude from Wesleyan University, and then received a PhD from The Rockefeller University and an MD degree from Cornell University. After his internship and residency at U.C. San Diego, he completed his fellowship training in medical oncology at U.C.S.F. and post-doctoral training at Genentech. Dr. Arrick has been on the Dartmouth faculty since 1990. Shortly after the discovery of BRCA1 his laboratory began to study the structure and function of BRCA1 isoforms, with the goal of understanding its role as a cancer susceptibility gene. He co-founded and directs the Familial Cancer Program which now provides this clinical service at DH sites from St. Johnsbury to Nashua. Since 2004 he has served as Chief of the Section of Hematology/Oncology.
