This 45-minute documentary film is a portrait of life in Tsum, a remote valley Nepal’s central Himalayan region. MANI examines changes to cultural and architectural heritage as well as the benefits and hazards of bringing the China-India highway through Nepal. In Tsum, this road project has privileged paving the way for modern transportation over considerations for the living pathways of culture and commerce or the centuries-old religious monuments that stand in the way of such development projects. Sponsored by the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Program and the Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation.
