Ponka-We Victors serves as the first and only Native American woman in the Kansas State Legislature, and as one of only nine Native women in state, local, or federal office in the United States.

Victors gained notoriety for her response to an immigration hardliner: “I think it’s funny because when you mention illegal immigrant, I think of all of you.”

Her talk will address her experiences working as a Native American on the grassroots level of the U.S. political system, and the critical issues facing Native people today at the state level.
