In his debut feature, alum Jeremy Teicher’10 poignantly depicts the tensions between tradition and modernity in contemporary Senegal. Coumba and her sister Debo are the first in their family to attend school in the city, but having fallen on hard times the girls' father sells the 11-year-old Debo into an arranged marriage. Dreaming of a brighter future, Coumba hatches a secret plan to rescue her sister from a fate she did not choose. D: Jeremy Teicher, Senegal, 2012, subtitled, 82m
