This special OSHER@Dartmouth lecture by a Vermont artist will relate her uplifting adventure living alone in a shack without electricity perched above the Atlantic Ocean near Provincetown, Massachusetts.

The experience of solitude amid the wonders of nature inspired creation of an extraordinary series of woodcut prints that have been captured in a "wordless book" called Dunes Spirit, as well as a video presentation of the same name.

Marilyn Syme, the artist printmaker, lives and works in Pomfret, Vermont. 'After receiving her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University, she has pursued an art career in many directions, winning numerous awards as a painter in juried art shows.

Exhibits of framed pages of her book have been shown at several locales, including the Osher@Dartmouth Gallery. Copies of Dunes Spirit will be available for sale and signing at the special lecture.

This is free and open to the public.
