You’re invited to attend the Humanities LLC event!

Professor Adam Omar Hosein (Northeastern) is visiting the Humanities LLC on Thursday evening for a discussion of immigration and the idea of US legal rights of non-US citizens who are outside of its borders. It’s a great chance to explore a vital current political issue with a leading figure in the philosophy of immigration today. See Prof. Hosein’s related piece in the Boston Reviewhttp://bostonreview.net/politics/adam-hosein-do-outsiders-have-legal-rights

On Professor Hosein: Adam Hosein, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Northeastern University, works mainly in moral, political, and legal philosophy, with a special interest in areas of international concern and issues relating to race or gender. Before coming to Northeastern, he was an associate prof. at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has held fellowships and visiting positions at Chicago Law, Harvard University, the University of Toronto, and the Université Catholique de Louvain. His research includes discussion of theoretical issues--such as the relationship between freedom and equality and the best way to understand deontological ethics--as well as as attempts to solve political controversies--such as amnesties for undocumented migrants, racial profiling, and legal constraints on sex-stereotyping.

Sponsored by the Humanities Living Learning Community, the Leslie Center for the Humanities, the Associate Dean of Arts and Humanities, and the Department of Philosophy.
