Dr. Cohen is a senior nephrologist and director of education in the Nephrology division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Cohen has designed a novel curriculum to teach communication skills to nephrology fellows for conversations about serious illness. He teaches this curriculum annually in a full-day course for all Harvard Medical School affiliated nephrology fellows, supported by the endowment of a generous donor. Dr. Cohen has developed a similar program for nephrology fellows at UCSF and other institutions and has trained practicing nephrologists in communication skills at  international meetings of the American Society of Nephrology and National Kidney Foundation.   Dr. Cohen is a faculty member of the Academy for Communication in Healthcare.
