Zimmerman's presentation will focus on Chicago Latino art from the city's "Latino cultural explosion" of the 1970's and on to new generation responding to crises in Latin America and the U.S. involving questions of discrimination, gentrification, displacement and struggle.

 

Marc Zimmerman is Professor Emeritus at the U. of Illinois Chicaco and the U. of Houston. He is the founder of LACASA Chicago Publications (www.lacasachicago.org) and is the director of its series on Latin American and Latino cultural studies.
