Screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) continues to probe troubling social issues with his directorial debut, a Western thriller set on a Wyoming reservation in the dead of winter. When a young Native American woman is found dead in the snow, a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past (Jeremy Renner) to investigate what happened to her.

Along with starkly beautiful cinematography, Sheridan’s film offers “sharp observations among his Native American characters (not merely paid lip service), as well as the sudden crack of gunfire. You learn to look for tracks and clues; it’s a film that makes you a better viewer” (Time Out).
