Democracy in Iran - Why it Failed and How it Might Succeed
May 23rd at 4:30pm
041 Haldeman Center

Join us for a discussion with Sociology Professor Misagh Parsa on his recently published book, Democracy in Iran - Why It Failed and How It Might Succeed. Ray Takeyh of the Council on Foreign Relations in a review for the journal Survival wrote: “Misagh Parsa’s account of Iran is one of the most important books published about the Islamic Republic since its inception. Parsa’s mastery of an impressive range of sources, his elegant writing style and his intellectual honesty set his account apart from the legion of other books published on the theocratic state.”

Gene Garthwaite, Professor Emeritus of History, will also join the discussion to provide commentary on Iran’s May 19th elections.

Co-Sponsored by the Dickey Center for International Understanding and the Department of Sociology.
